uni Mitsubishi buys German pen maker

uni Mitsubishi Pencil has acquired German writing instruments firm Josef Lamy.

The acquisition will position Lamy as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Japanese parent company and provide complimentary product and design capabilities, while expanding uni’s ability to deliver “premium human expression solutions” to consumers throughout the world.

“By combining our strengths and resources, we are poised to unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation across our global footprint, “uni president Shigehiko Suhara, said.

“The core of the Lamy brand will be retained and further developed. 'Made in Germany' will continue to play a key role in this,” he said.

Lamy will maintain all operations in Heidelberg, Germany. The two companies will begin initiating the integration phase within each global market - working to maximize identified synergies and market expansion objectives.
