ADC reviews removal of A4 copy paper dumping notices

Opal exit leaves a locally-made white paper void.

The Anti-Dumping Commission has initiated a series of revocation reviews in respect of the recent removal of dumping notices for A4 copy paper exported to Australia from multiple countries.

The reviews follow a request to the ADC by Federal Science and Industry Minister Ed Husic who said that following Opal Australian Paper’s exit from white paper production, a review was “appropriate” in that it “appears no Australian industry produces like goods.”

The exporting countries in question include Brazil, China, Finland, Indonesia, South Korea, Russia, Slovakia and Thailand.

The revocation reviews will examine whether the anti-dumping measures are no longer warranted.

Following the review, the dumping notices could remain unaltered or revoked, in part or generally.

Paper Australia Pty Ltd (trading as Opal, manufacturer of Reflex) ceased production of A4 copy paper in Australia in February this year..
