Big W posts sixth successive quarterly sales increase
Store numbers remain unchanged.
Big W has recorded a sixth straight increase in quarterly sales with online transactions continuing to show strong growth.
The Woolworths-owned retailer posted a sales increase of 2.6 per cent, driven by growth in apparel sales.
Big W posted strong online sales growth of 21.2 per cent.
Woolworths Group CEO, Brad Banducci said the division’s ‘Every day’s a big day’ brand platform was the driving factor for sales growth at Big W.
Total sales jumped to $926 million with a comparable sales growth of 4.4%, which now marks Big W’s sixth consecutive quarter of relative positive sales growth.
The only Big W retail categories that delivered negative comparable sales growth was ‘leisure’, impacted by a slowdown in gaming, audio-visual and DVD sales.
Big W’s store network size remained unchanged at 183 stores, despite announcing plans last year to close 30 stores.
