Bounce Rubber Bands gains ethically-sourced accreditation

Brand offers an eco-conscious choice.

Bounce Rubber Bands has gained GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) Claim Authentication in recognition of the brand’s sourcing of natural rubber.

“With our GECA Authenticated Claim, customers can be certain that ‘the rubber used in our rubber bands is derived from natural rubber trees’, Michelle Thomas, marketing manager at Bounce Rubber Bands, told Office Products News.

“Consumers want to easily identify and choose products, services or organisations that are aligned with their eco-ideals,” she said. “We found the market is moving to make greener choices and supplying rubber bands made from natural rubber, rather than their synthetic alternative, is very important to us.”

Bounce Rubber Bands’ natural rubber is ethically-sourced from Thailand where it is produced from a tree known as Hevea Brasilienis. The milky latex is a renewable resource which is tapped sustainably without harming the tree.

Synthetic rubber is made using petrochemicals and other fossil fuels.

“It was important to us that we offer customers a more eco-conscious choice and one that aligns with our values,” Thomas said. “The GECA Claim Authentication process, which took 18 months to acquire, gives our customers confidence as it has been substantiated by an independent and reputable organisation.

“Bounce is one of the only rubber band providers in Australia to have traceability of every bag produced. We do this through our market-leading batch numbering system. Our systems made it easy to be transparent about our supply chain during the process of acquiring the claim,” she added.
