Canon cleans out third-party rivals from Amazon
Thousands of listings removed from European sites.
Canon Inc. has successfully removed more than 2600 listings from Amazon websites in Europe.
While the use of the ‘Amazon Reporting Tool’ service offered by Amazon and does not encompass any official finding of validity or infringement of a patent, Canon said it appreciated the support of the global e-commerce giant in protecting its intellectual property.
In the third quarter of 2019, Canon used the ‘Reporting Tool*, letters of inquiry, and/or information letters to successfully remove 2,656 listings from Amazon in Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and France.
The majority of listings that were removed, more than 1200, were in the UK.
Since June 2018, the total number of listings removed is 3844.
The listings offered third-party laser toner cartridges from vendors which Canon believes infringed one or more of its European patents.
