Geeks2U launches tech support subscription service

Officeworks offshoot introduces new ‘insurance’ plans.

Wesfarmers owned office supply retailer, Officeworks, has debuted a new tech support subscription service (‘GeekCover’), following a significant spike in tech aid from work-from-home employees during the coronavirus pandemic.

While Officeworks has benefited from the increase in sales of home office products, the retailer has had a win-win with its acquisition of IT support company Geeks2U.

Officeworks has expanded the Geeks2U offer with launch of GeekCover, a membership plan that offers unlimited remote tech support, coupled with ‘low’ on-site call-out fees and critical security alerts/recommendations in the event of widespread cybersecurity attack.

Plans for consumer start at $9.95 with business plans starting at $19.95.

“After acquiring Geeks2U in March last year, we are proud to be launching GeekCover, which provides Australian homes and businesses with affordable, accessible and complete tech support,” Officeworks merchandise business manager, Sandy Young, said.
