GLOBAL NEWS: Anti-bacterial office products in demand

Pentel has 'superb' idea for anti-bacterial pen.

With COVID-19 highlighting the need for greater hygiene measures in the workplace, Pentel Europe has launched the Superb Antibacterial pen.

Based on the slimline styling of the ballpoint pen of the original name, both the barrel and the cap of Superb Antibacterial contain silver ions with anti-bacterial, biocidal properties, which inhibit the growth of bacteria to prevent it spreading on the surface of the pen.

Wendy Vickery, Pentel’s UK marketing manager, said: “Our new Superb Antibacterial ballpoint pen will become a welcome problem-solver in situations where it might otherwise have been advisable to sanitise writing instruments that are likely to be shared among individuals. It’s ideal for use in a multitude of environments including manufacturing and logistics, healthcare, offices and schools, plus restaurants and leisure facilities. “

Product of the year for clean and safe workplace

Exacompta’s new Clean’Safe range of stationery products has been nominated for the ‘European Product of the Year’ award, in recognition of its anti-bacterial properties.

The raw materials used in the manufacturing processes are treated with an organic anti-microbial additive, which gives extra protection against the spread of bacteria, viruses, mould and fungi.

Lawrence Savage, marketing manager at ExaClair, said: “The health of our families, friends and colleagues has become a key issue that covers all aspects of our everyday lives. Stationery products are handled on an everyday basis, causing bacteria and viruses to stick to their surfaces and multiply if left untreated. Especially for all those having to combine working from home with going into the office, the Clean’Safe range allows employees to return to work and share files without worrying about cross contamination.”
