Fellowes' survey of 1000 UK office workers revealed:
  • A third of workers feel stressed, anxious, and lonely or isolated.
  • One in four suffer strained eyes, stiff neck, a sore or aching back, and headaches.
  • One in four are overwhelmed and almost one in five feel undervalued.
  • Less than half have a proper home workstation with 10 per cent admitting to working from their sofa, five per cent from their bed and three per cent on the floor.
  • 45 per cent of workers have never completed a home workstation risk assessment.
  • 47 per cent work longer hours when working from home than in the office.
  • 65 per cent of workers had to pay for their own home office equipment - spending £1300 (A$2300) on average.
While working from home is placing physical strain on workers and negatively impacting their mental health, most people (89 per cent) are keen to continue working at home in the future; enjoying the greater flexibility

However, most would feel more motivated and productive if they had a better home working environment yet 42 per cent say their employer did not support them in creating a good working from home set-up.
