HP on a roll with recycling

Company ticks a lot of its own sustainability boxes.
HP Inc has said it achieved or exceeded most of the sustainability goals it had set for 2025, although the company has extended the timeline for reaching 100 per cent renewable electricity in its global operations.
According to the vendor’s latest Sustainability Progress Report, HP exceeded its target to recycle 1.2 million tonnes of hardware and supplies by 2025, reaching 1.21 million tonnes since the beginning of 2016.
The company also surpassed its goal to use 30 per cent post-consumer recycled plastic across its personal systems and print portfolio.
The company reported a 72 per cent reduction in single-use plastic packaging compared with 2018 levels, below its goal of 75 per cent.
HP said 96 per cent of home and office printers, desktops, notebooks, displays and workstations shipped in 2025 contained recycled content.
HP had previously targeted 100 per cent renewable electricity use across its operations by 2025, but said it reached 66 per cent globally.
Bruce Broussard, interim CEO of HP (pictured), said: “Using sustainability as a guide to the choices we make on materials, energy and water and how we think about expanding access to technology and skilling drives greater economic opportunity for HP and for our stakeholders.”
