Increased online sales on our doorstep
Courier companies keep their distance with isolated customers.
As federal and state governments enforce the stay-at-home restrictions, it’s no surprise that an increasing number of Australians are going online for products and services.
As part of its internal research into customer habits, the Commonwealth Bank found spending on alcohol goods soared to be 86 per cent higher over one week compared to the same period last year.
The bank also said there had been a 26 per cent jump in household furnishings and equipment, much of it in the DIY and home office categories.
The online shopping portals for Woolworths and Coles have experienced a 189 percent increase in orders since March when panic-buying was leaving some shelves bare.
According to a report from CouriersPlease, the company has seen a spike in delivery volumes among a number of retail partners for products including toilet paper, office supplies and gym equipment.
The company said that as a result of government restrictions on people movement there will be an increase in contactless delivery.
“To maintain social distancing, all courier companies should have by now trained their drivers to make contactless deliveries," according to a CouriersPlease spokesperson.
