Melbourne-based supplier expands into business supplies sector.

 

The Note Group has acquired well-known Sydney-based business products supplier Zions Systems, effective 14 January, 2022.

 

The purchase follows the retirement of John Given, managing director of Zions Systems, who has been associated with the office products industry for nearly 40 years.

 

Zions, an Australian-owned business established in 1907, has a long history as a leading supplier of business recording systems, specialised stationery, safety and apparel to the office products, newsagent and hospitality markets. 

 

The Note Group, established in 1993, is family-owned business that specialises in school and office supplies, including stationery, breakroom and packing/shipping/mailroom products. 

 

The Zions business will be moved to The Note Group premises in Rowville and all sales and distribution will be from The Note Group’s Victorian warehouse. 

 

Zions phone numbers and email addresses will be diverted to The Note Group for a period of time. 

 

“The opportunity to add a market-leading brand like Zions and its high-quality range of products to our Writer, Protext and Splash stable of brands does not present itself every day,” Paul Hamilton, director at The Note Group, said.

 

“The need for supplier consolidation or at a minimum co-operation is evident given the changing market conditions that we are experiencing – we are always open to discussions with like-minded suppliers,” Hamilton added.

After nearly 40 years in the industry, John Given is heading to Europe where his boat ‘Forever Summer’ is being prepared for an extended voyage around the Mediterranean.

 

“I would like to thank everyone for their trust and friendship over the years; it has been a fun industry to be part of,” Given told Office Products News.
