NXP moves quickly to acquire NZ Office Supplies
‘Business as usual’ following agreement with administrator.
NXP, the largest supplier of business and cleaning products to New Zealand’s corporate and government sectors, has entered into an agreement with an administrator to acquire NZ Office Supplies (NZOS).
NZOS, which has offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, was placed in voluntary administration earlier this month.
The prompt move by NXP is expected to result in saving the jobs of all NZOS employees.
Joe Taylor (pictured), CEO of NXP, said NZOS’s 34 employees will be offered a new contract at the same rate of pay they are currently on.
“These are incredibly challenging and uncertain times for business and their staff, and we wanted to move quickly to reassure employees that all will have a job available to them and, for company’s customers, it will be business as usual,” he said.
NXP, formerly known as Winc/Staples, was off-loaded to the Tiri Group in 2018 as part of an agreement between the New Zealand Commerce Commission and Platinum Equity, in the wake of the US private equity firm’s purchase of Office Max in Australia and New Zealand.
