Office Brands cans October expo due to COVID concerns
Dealer group ‘disconnects’ Brisbane conference and trade show.
Office Brands has announced the postponement of its Reconnect Expo, which was to be held in Brisbane on 8-10 October.
In an announcement to members and suppliers, Office Brands CEO Adam Joy said: ”After careful consultation with our members and partners regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry we have made the difficult, however wise decision, to postpone the planned Reconnect Expo.
“We have been monitoring the current movement of the Covid-19 Delta variant and we are acutely aware of the heightened risk that this Delta variant poses for everyone. We have sought Member and Partner feedback and, given the proximity to the Office Brands Expo, border closures and the unknown restrictions of the government’s ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown, we needed to act now.
“We have received strong support from our partners and members who would really like the expo to proceed but not at the expense of personal safety and business security. We will be in touch for new dates in 2022, and we will be providing updated information around our annual awards presentation,” Joy said.
Joy added that any current registrations and partner sponsorship fees will be refunded in full.
Office Brands’ decision to postpone its expo follows the cancellation of the Office Choice/GNS OPiX trade show, which was to be held on the Gold Coast next weekend.
