Office Brands opts for ‘fresh set of eyes’ for key role

Dealer group appoints former Metcash exec to replace Andrew Gilbert.

Office Brands has appointed experienced FMCG executive Craig Matthews (pictured) as the group’s new head of procurement and merchandising.

Matthews, who replaces Andrew Gilbert, previously ran his own company Stock Box, a B2B e-commerce firm which specialised in the production of bespoke product sampling programs.

His previous experience includes senior roles with Metcash (where he was marketing and merchandise manager between 2005 and 2012), Lucky 7 convenience, United Convenience Buying Group, BP, British American tobacco and Coles.

In announcing Matthews' appointment, Office Brands said: “Craig has qualifications in business management and marketing. More importantly he will fit in well with our culture and values. His non-industry exposure will allow a fresh set of eyes to achieve our end-to-end procurement strategy.”

OPN understands that Office Brands received around 40 applications for the position.
