Officeworks to move to new clean, green, zero-carbon HQ
Relocation accommodates sustainability and hybrid workforce.
Officeworks will move to a new head office location in mid-2023, which will not only accommodate hybrid working arrangements but also state-of-the art sustainability requirements.
The company has signed a long-term lease with shopping centre property group Vicinity to move its head office to a net zero carbon-certified facility to Chadstone in mid-2023.
Ahead of Officeworks move from its current Bentleigh East location, Chadstone Place (pictured) will undergo a major refurbishment to create a “bespoke and sustainable workspace” for Officeworks’ team members.
The four-floor building, occupying around 8000 square metres, will have a sustainability focus, with features including: a 5.5-star Green Star rating (targeted); a 5.5-star NABERS Energy rating; and an Australian-first International Living Future Institute (ILFI) Zero Carbon Certification (targeted).
Sarah Hunter, managing director of Officeworks, said the new head office was designed with a focus on sustainability and the rapidly evolving future of work.
“Our workspace will be consistent with our new hybrid working arrangements and with our flexible working policy that enables greater freedom for our team in choosing their work location and their hours of work,” she said.
“Officeworks is committed to taking meaningful climate action including reducing our carbon emissions, and to operating as sustainably as possible, so finding an office with very high green star and energy ratings and a zero-carbon certification was mandatory.
“Chadstone’s long-list of amenities, including convenient public transport links, accommodation, conferencing facilities, and proximity to a major retail precinct, also helped in our decision. We know our team will love working in our office,” she said.
