Officeworks opens big green store on Gold Coast

New outlet ticks all the company’s sustainable boxes.

As reported in OPN last week, Officeworks has opened its 168th store at the Robina Home & Life Centre on the Gold Coast.

The store is the company’s 32nd in Queensland and is the largest of four stores on the Gold Coast, the other three being located at West Burleigh, Nerang and Southport.

The new store will help create 68 new local jobs and will stock over 21,000 products in-store.

Sam Uithol, Officeworks Robina store business manager, said: “From 2025, the Robina store will be powered by renewable energy as part of Officeworks’ recent partnership with Queensland government-owned renewables, low-emissions and hydro company, CleanCo.”

Officeworks said it is committed to integrating sustainability into its “everyday decision-making.”

The Robina store features several sustainability initiatives, including using 100 per cent LED lights which feature low wattage and reduce energy consumption. Solar panels are due to be installed on the roof to help power the store with renewable energy and an e-waste recycling unit will be available to customers to recycle their unwanted or broken tech items.

Customers can shop for a more sustainable range of Greener Choices products, and recycle their unwanted products such as batteries, printers, laptops and pens and markers.
