Officeworks opens fifth store on Gold Coast

Pimpama store opens with 41 team members.

Officeworks has opened its fifth store on the Gold Coast, taking its national store count to 168.

The new store on Nexus Drive at Pimpama opened its doors today (28 September) and joins the recently opened Robina store and those in West Burleigh, Nerang and Southport.

The store has created 41 new jobs and features sustainability integrations including 100 per cent LED lights which feature low wattage and reduce energy consumption, solar panels to help power the store with renewable energy, and a bio water management system to treat roof and carpark ground water for reuse in the surrounding natural eco system.

Officeworks Pimpama store business manager, Cameron McGhie said: “After a seven month build, our team is very much looking forward to opening the doors and connecting with the local Pimpama community. Operating in this growing corridor of south-east Queensland is an exciting place to be with new businesses, schools and organisations opening that we can help inspire to work, learn create and connect.

To celebrate the opening, a Community Fun Day is planned for 22 October with the surrounding stores in the new home centre. Giveaways, arts and crafts, complimentary coffee and more will be on offer.

Officeworks Pimpama will also donate to the local Gainsborough State School which opened in January 2021 to help support them with education resources and supplies.

The store was completed in stage one of the home centre development by investors Baycrown. A total of four stages will complete the precinct with additional retail shops and offices built in the coming years.

Costco opens in Auckland

Costco will open its NZ$100 million Westgate store in Auckland today (28 September), a few weeks after its initial launch date.

The US warehouse retailer initially planned to open last month, however it was delayed due to bad weather and Covid-related restrictions.

The retailer will hire about 350 workers and has brought in 30 to 40 staff from Australia to train locals.
