Officeworks powers up renewable energy targets

Retailer aims to be carbon neutral by 2030.

Officeworks has ramped up its community and environmental commitments with the release of its Positive Deference Plan 2025.

Under its previous 2020 plan, the retailer contributed a total of $18.5 million to local communities, recycled 86 per cent of its waste (up from 63 per cent in 2015) and reached FSC certification or 100 per cent recycled paper for 90 per cent of all paper products sold, up from 37 per cent.

The 2025 strategy plan outlines a series of 18 commitments aimed at supporting its team, enhancing connections to local communities, reducing environmental impact and sourcing products in sustainable ways.

The commitments are categorised into six pillars: Community, Our Team, Human Rights, Climate Action, Circular Economy and Sustainable Purchases.

By 2025, Officeworks will aim to only use renewable electricity to power its operations, as part of the roadmap to achieving net-zero emissions by 2030.

To achieve this commitment, Officeworks will be installing solar panels on 80 stores over the coming years.
