Opal’s legal team short-listed for industry award
Recognition for in-house lawyers amid lockdowns.
Paper group Opal, parent company of Opal Australian Paper, has been named as a finalist in the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Australia Corporate Lawyer Awards.
Opal’s in-house legal team has been nominated as a finalist in the small legal team of the year category
Katrina Bobeff, Opal’s group general counsel, legal and secretarial, said: This is a terrific achievement for a team that came together during the 2020 Melbourne lockdown following the $1.72 billion acquisition that formed Opal.
“Our small, motivated legal team of five lawyers came together following the acquisition and during the global pandemic. Over the past 12 months, our team is proud to have supported the Opal business in a transformative period of growth and integration.
“During this time, we have built a corporate governance framework, introduced automated solutions, advised on business critical projects and provided accurate, commercial and timely legal advice across the organisation,” she said.
A virtual awards ceremony will be held on 8 November to recognise 33 finalists and announce award-winners in 11 categories.
