PNG Officeworks in a new world of its own
Retailer opens flagship store despite surge in COVID cases.
It has the same name as the big Australian retailer but Papua New Guinea Officeworks is a very different enterprise to its corporate namesake.
The Port Moresby-based company opened its first flagship shop in the national capital’s CBD last month, despite the surge in COVID-19 cases.
PNG Officeworks owner Lady Ni Cragnolini said people needed to be positive and “learn to live with challenges because life goes on after all.”
“I feel that there was a need to open another shop and face the challenges ahead and try new things in a different world and see if you can get through such a rough time. Nothing is impossible,” she told the Post Courier..
The new shop has 60 full-time employees and the company is looking at opening other sections such as a new printing department and coffee and gelato shop, which will add another 20 staff members.
She said PNG Officeworks is a proud PNG company and will be expanding to other centres in the future.
