Schoolstuff a really big idea for two Queensland mums
Two Queensland mothers are now running a business suppling more than 50,000 back-to-school packs a year.
Having discussed an idea over coffee 18 years ago, Schoolstuff Pty Ltd was established by Alison Walsh and Lisa Jensen (pictured) in 2004 to supply stationery and text books to schools.
It has now grown to employ more than 60 staff and has been recognised as one the state’s most successful entrepreneurial ventures.
Both directors are hands-on in the business with set roles managing marketing, warehouse logistics, retail and human resources.
Since beginning, Schoolstuff has expanded from servicing five schools in 2004 to currently servicing 60 plus schools in south-east Queensland, ranging in size from 100 students to 1400 students.
Schoolstuff says it has robust and effective systems in place to ensure speed of service, accuracy of packing and “exceptional customer service” throughout the process.
The company has a purpose-built website to enable a simple ordering process for customers along with reporting, stock control and logistical information for all orders.
Schoolstuff has a combined retail store, administration facility and a 1000 square metre warehouse in Caswell Street, East Brisbane.
