Smart office wish list for flexible workforce
New technology to entice workers back to the office.
While office workers have adapted to the post-COVID workplace environment, the next generation of employees are going to be a lot more demanding in their requirements for personal and communication technologies.
A survey of 1000 Australian office workers by global software and technology firm essensys (in collaboration with Flexible Workplace Australia) found that in-building technologies have become an essential tool in future-proofing offices for the next generation workforce.
The survey found that workplace redesign and increasing investments in tech-enabled real estate is an immediate priority for employees.
The survey found that if buildings had the following technologies, office workers would be enticed back to their offices.
- Smartphone door access
- A mobile app used to interact with spaces, services and amenities within their building
- Occupancy monitoring that shows how many people are in the workspace
- Sensor-controlled and automated technology such as lighting, climate control and air quality monitoring
- Digital signage for directions, workspace availability, etc.
- Ability to access space and services across a network of locations
- Instant meeting room and desk bookings 27%
- Building-wide WiFi
- A/V control for devices in meeting rooms
