Smelly lunches off the office menu

Deliveroo survey highlights main offenders.

A third of Australian workers have named sardines and reheated fish as Australia's biggest office eating no-no, wanting them to be outlawed in the workplace.

In a survey commissioned by Deliveroo for Business, 36 per cent of workers said they want sardines banned from the office while 33 per cent said they were against reheated fish.

It was also discovered that Australians eat three out of five of lunches at their desk.

The research explained office eating habits by breaking them down into four behavioural profiles: The Stink Bomber, Fad Dieter, Loud Chewer and Seagull.

While the first three are relatively self-explanatory, The Seagull defines another common but controversial form of office eating – staff members who are often found stalking around the office and picking from everybody's meal but their own.

The data revealed 26 per cent of workers get riled up over 'The Stink Bomber' while 25 per cent can't stand 'The Loud Chewer'.

The younger office works are, the generally more considerate they are, with 90 per cent of Gen Z and 88 per cent of Millenials believing office eating etiquette is very important.
