Tech issues costing business time and money

Everyday technical issues are costing businesses hundreds of thousands of dollars every year, according to a new Winc survey.

Earlier this year, Winc commissioned research among more than 1000 office workers across Australia to find out “what everyday tech failures are really costing Australian workplaces.”

For 45 per cent of Australian office workers, everyday tech problems can eat up between one and three hours every month, costing a 50-person business more than $29,000 in lost productivity each year.

From cluttered cords to devices that suddenly stop working, these everyday frustrations can add up, costing businesses valuable time, productivity and momentum.

The top 10 most annoying workplace tech problems according to Australian workers are:
  • Wi-fi dropping out or internet cutting off
  • Too many cords on your desk
  • Tech that just stops working
  • Slow charging devices and accessories
  • Uncomfortable mouse or wrist pain
  • Keyboards with sticky, rattly or missing keys
  • Meeting room AV system not connecting
  • Devices running out of battery during meetings
  • Webcam quality too poor for video meetings
  • Inferior head-sets – no noise cancelling, bad connection, too many wires
About the research: The research was conducted in June 2026 via Pureprofile, among 1000 Australian office workers (physically present in the office for a minimum three days a week).
