UK dealer groups urge Boris to ‘keep it local’
Independent resellers campaign for ‘fair slice of the cake’.
UK office products dealer groups Nemo and Office Club have urged the country’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson to support its ‘Keep It Local’ campaign.
In an open letter to the PM, OPI reports that the dealer groups underlined the efforts that local resellers have been making over the past 18 months to supply PPE equipment across the UK and, more recently, to provide advice and social distancing products.
“Without doubt, the importance of local businesses had been underlined by recent events,” Nemo managing director Tim Beaumont wrote. “Their agile ability to adapt to whatever the circumstances presented, and their desire to support their own local business communities strikes right at the heart of what we stand for as a trading nation.”
Nemo and Office Club launched their ‘Keep It Local’ campaign last year, with a website called Office Circle going live at the start of this year.
The UK government has declared a goal of spending a third of its purchases on goods with SMBs by 2022.
Beaumont said it was critical that the office products dealers in the ‘Keep It Local’ initiative got “a fair slice of the cake”.
