Warehouse Stationery moves to contactless shopping
As stores remain closed, new rules open the way for click-and-collect.
With the lessening of COVID-19 restrictions in New Zealand, Warehouse Stationery is now offering customers the option to shop via a contactless click-and-collect service.
Bricks-and-mortar outlets will remain closed, but resellers can now offer their full product ranges online.
The Warehouse Group has launched click and collect at 230 locations – at its The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery, Noel Leeming and Torpedo7 outlets.
The stores are being used as fulfilment centres and when customers place orders online, they choose a store location and then collect their goods at a pick-up point outside the store. They can also choose to have products shipped directly to their homes.
Earlier this month, The Warehouse Group asked some staff to take a 10 to 20 per cent pay cut or face redundancy, due to a "significant" revenue drop during the coronavirus alert level 4 lockdown, despite selling online essentials.
In an email to staff, the retail giant asked staff earning between NZ$60,000 and NZ$100,000 to take a 10 per cent pay cut until June 30, while staff earning above NZ$100,000 were asked to take a 20 per cent pay cut. Those earning below NZ$60,000 will not need to take pay cut.
The Warehouse Group has received around NZ$52 million under the wage subsidy scheme for its 8596 workers.
