Winc releases report on workplace wellness
Stressed employees seeking more support.
New research reveals that Australian employees rate a positive working environment as more important for their job satisfaction than more money.
However, Australian businesses are lagging behind in wellness programs that are proven to improve office workers’ physical and mental health.
To fully understand the issue, Winc Australia embarked on a research initiative aimed at exploring the tangible advantages of workplace wellness initiatives for Australian organisations.
In a report titled Workplace Wellness: A healthy business model , Winc found effective workplace wellness strategies are found to attract, engage and retain workers, improve morale and culture, reduce illnesses and injuries, and improve attendance and productivity.
The survey of around 1000 office workers revealed 25 per cent of respondents are not offered any wellness programme or support while three-quarters of employees said there is ‘room for improvement’ and their workplace should do more to support wellness.
- Only 4% of respondents said they never experience anxiety or stress at work.
- 18% reported their employer was doing everything possible to support staff wellness and is likely ahead of other companies in this area.
- 37% of employers offer mental health programmes.
