Boutique stationery firm soaks up sanitiser
Karst creates new product line to wipe virus.
Locally-owned boutique stationery company Kaarst has added hand sanitisers to its range due to unprecedented demand created by the current coronavirus outbreak.
“We felt strongly compelled to put our hands up and lean into this current health crisis by providing an affordable hand sanitiser product,” Karst CEO Jon Tse told Business Insider.
Karst doesn’t normally make hand sanitizer - the company’s line of notebooks, notepads, sketchbooks, and woodless pencils is made from materials such as ‘vegan leather’ and recycled stone.
Tse said it took the company’s team three days to create the sanitiser, and within a week, it had sold more than 15,000 units, each priced at $22.00.
The hand sanitiser Karst is making contains 70 per cent alcohol, which meets the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations which require hand sanitising products to contain at least 60 per cent ethanol.
