Small businesses the backbone of regional economy.

 

Office Brands member Stationery Store Online Office National was in the news earlier this month for its efforts to promote local business.

 

Owners Mark and Deborah Munro, who started the business in 2013, were featured in the Dubbo Photo News following Dubbo Regional Council's updated policy to support local businesses by purchasing goods and services under $10,000 in value from local suppliers wherever possible. 

 

"It is very, very important that the community does well economically, particularly coming into this struggle, this recession we are going to have. We need to do everything possible to keep money in our local economy" Cr Shields told the newspaper. 

 

Mark Munro added: "I applaud the Dubbo Regional Council for looking at their own policy to support local businesses. We've got to change the culture of the procurement department."
