Teenage fund-raiser stocks up on Kmart stationery
Young shopper’s $1300 back-to-school purchase goes viral.
Queensland mum Tanya shared photos on Facebook of five Kmart trolleys stacked with stationery and backpacks with the explanation that her son Sam is a supporter of the Kids4Kids School Supply Drive fundraiser, held every year to help children in need.
The 13-year-old has been donating school supplies since he was just eight years old, helping tens of thousands of kids in his local area.
“With our beautiful community’s help, he’s given 75,000 school supplies and this year hoping to reach 100,000,” Sam’s mother explained.
“He gets no funding, it’s all community’s help and this money was from him selling his own Dog Photography Calendars,” she told 7News.
Tanya said Sam also fundraises for the homeless, animal shelters and other causes, and spends all of his Christmas school holidays organising his back-to-school fundraiser.
