Hybrid workforce driving sales at HP
Second quarter revenues up by 27 per cent.
The emergence of the hybrid workforce has boosted HP Inc. global sales in the second quarter by more than 27 per cent over the previous corresponding period.
Q2 sales amounted to just under US$16 billion with personal systems revenue up 27 per cent to US$10.1 billion and printing revenue up 28 per cent to US$5.3 billion.
“HP technology is increasingly at the heart of hybrid work and we are benefitting from exceptional demand for our products and services,” Enrique Lores, HP president and CEO, said.
“Our performance and our positive outlook for the full year reflect the relevance of our innovation, the resilience of our business model, and the operational excellence of our teams,” he said.
In a conference call, Lores said the number of laptop units sold in Q2 surged by more than 60 per cent year-on-year.
Lores said that as employees begin to return to the office, companies are investing in new notebook PCs, not only as part of a technology upgrade, but also to offer hybrid working capabilities by replacing desktop computers.
He added that since the start of the pandemic, PC sales to the education market have more than doubled due to remote learning.
The HP+ programme (which includes the consumer-based Instant Ink program) has been rolled out in 35 countries and there are now 9.7 million Instant Ink subscribers worldwide.
