Canon customers facing MFD component shortages
Certain ancillary functions affected in the short-term.
Due to the ongoing global shortage of semiconductor components, Canon Australia has advised its customers that it is currently experiencing challenges in procuring specific electronic components that are used in the consumable products for its multifunctional devices (MFD).
The company said that to ensure users are able to “continue printing and enjoy a continuous and reliable supply of consumables”, it has chosen to supply consumable products without the electronic component until normal supply resumes.
“While your ability to print and the print quality are unaffected, certain ancillary functions such as detecting remaining toner level may be affected,” the company said.
The affected products are toner products for certain models of imageRUNNER ADVANCE and imageRUNNER series multifunctional devices (MFD) only. Ink cartridges for inkjet printers (PIXMA and MAXIFY) and toner cartridges for laser beam (imageCLASS) printers are not affected.
