Sales up nearly 10 per cent in 2021.

 

Member-only big box retail chain Costco has reported sales of nearly $3 billion in 2021, largely driven by a COVID-inspired spike in bulk grocery sales.

 

The US-owned chain recorded a 9.6 per cent jump in sales to $2.84 billion over the 12 months to August 31, according to accounts filed last December with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission. 

 

Costco operates 828 warehouse outlets around the world with 572 in the US.

 

The company currently has 13 stores in Australia, supported by an e-commerce site.
