Warehouse Stationery sales hit by pandemic

Store-within-a-store program continues.

New Zealand’s Warehouse Stationery has reported a drop in sales in the year to 31 July, partly due to a 12.1 per cent drop in foot traffic due the pandemic.

Revenue decreased 9.1 per cent to NZ$249.7 million while Operating profit for the division was NZ$23.1 million, a decline of 32.8 per cent compared to the previous 12 month period.

Online sales increased 20.8 per cent, and represented 13.7 of sales, with click and collect fulfilment increasing 37.8 per cent.

During the year a further 10 stores were integrated into The Warehouse stores taking the total number of Warehouse Stationery stores-within-a-store to 35.

The Market.com update

TheMarket.com, The Warehouse Group’s online marketplace, now has more than 390,000 active customers, offering 4.2 million products from more than 6500 local and international brands.

TheMarket.com continued its growth trajectory in FY22 with average customer spend up 14 per cent and delivered NZ$110 million gross merchandise value.

MarketMedia launch

Meantime, the launch of MarketMedia will allow advertisers to reach and connect to New Zealand’s largest integrated retail audience directly, with performance and reporting based on real-time behaviours across TWG’s online stores, apps, and visits to stores.

“MarketMedia will enhance the value creation from our retail ecosystem further and we are excited about the future growth opportunities that this new retail media network will bring to the Group. We will be working with Omnicom as our first retail media agency partner to accelerate our work in this space,” the company said.
