Wholesaler responds to Opal's production challenges.

 

GNS Wholesale has responded to Opal Australian Paper’s announcement about paper shortages by introducing an “on allocation” policy for its customers. 

 

In a statement to customers, GNS said: “To support our customers with managed supply over the foreseeable future, effective immediately:

GNS CEO Paul Yardley added: “Until we can assure you of wider availability, we believe these measures are necessary to support an orderly and equitable market in copy paper.  We are also working hard to identify cost-effective alternative sources for these ranges and will update you in due course."

 

Vic Forests, a major third party wood supplier to Opal Australian Paper, earlier this month announced that in response to mandatory injunctions to shortly be issued by the Victorian Supreme Court, it will be suspending most current timber hardesting activities for its Maryvale Mill (pictured), at least in the short term.

 

Opal sources 100 per cent of its wood from third parties, including Vic Forests, so it could have an unexpected impact on Opal’s Maryvale Mill’s wood supply.

 

Opal’s brands include Reflex, Victory, Brilliant, Australian, Planet Ark, and most private label brands sold by independent dealers.
