ALNA joins call for end to A4 paper import duties
Newsagent group says duties need to be dumped with ”immediate effect”.
The Australian Lottery and Newsagents’ Association (ALNA) has added its name to the list of organisations calling on the Anti-Dumping Commission to withdraw dumping duties applying to A4 copy paper.
The ADC has already several submissions from various parties in relation to its exemption inquiry.
To date submissions have been received from representatives of importers of copy paper from Brazil, Malaysia and Indonesia as well as NSW-based importer A&C Paper Industry Group, Jackaroo and dealer group Office Brands.
In its submission ALNA CEO Ben Kearney said: “The recent closure of Opal's manufacturing facility makes it evident that no domestic injury can be sustained in the current environment.
“Therefore, we request support for the exemption of the ‘exemption goods’ identified in initiation of exemption inquiry,” he said, adding and “with immediate effect”.
