Hamelin Brands to acquire the Pelikan Group
Iconic OP company signs deal with French group.
Global office products supplier Hamelin Brands has entered into an agreement with Pelikan International Corporation Berhad (PICB), a company listed on the main market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad, for the acquisition of the Pelikan Group.
The Pelikan Group had net sales of more than €200 million (A$328m) in 2022.
This acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions including PICB shareholders and regulatory approval and expected to be finalised before the end of October.
Pelikan Group GmbH, headquartered in Berlin, is one of the world leading companies in the education and office stationery supplies sector. Its product range includes more than 12,000 items, under the well-known brands Pelikan and Herlitz.
Nicholas Afriat, managing director of Hamelin Brands Australia, told Office Products News that the acquisition of Pelikan Group was a major development for Hamelin and there would be some implications for the Australian market in due course.
