Muru Group among five businesses ‘we should know about’.

 

Complete Office Supplies has marked Indigenous Business Month (October) with a ‘shout-out’ to several businesses that have a relationship with the company.

 

“COS offers a range of products sourced from First Nation suppliers who contribute to the economic growth and sustainability of First Nations communities. This is in line with the company’s vision for reconciliation, ensuring that First Nations peoples have access to equal education, careers, health outcomes and quality of life,” Amie Lyone, co-CEO of COS, said.

 

By the end of this year, COS said at least three per cent of its employees will be First Nations Australians, above the national average of 2.2 per cent across corporate Australia.

 

Two of the companies and individuals “you should know about”, according to COS are:

 

Kylie Captain 

Self-made author, educator and keynote speaker Kylie Captain (pictured left with Amie Lyone) and COS have collaborated on an “inspiring teacher planner full of motivation and encouragement to set teachers up for a successful school year.”

 

Muru Group

Initially consisting of around three products, the Muru range has expanded significantly over the years, currently encompassing approximately 60 items that cover office stationery, copy paper, kitchen, and bathroom supplies. All Muru Group products showcase unique designs and artwork created by a First Nations artist.

 

“The success of this initiative is reflected in the significant sales figures, with over four million Muru Group products sold to date and more than one million products sold in FY23 alone. This demonstrates the demand for First Nations-branded workplace products and the positive reception from customers who value the impact of their purchasing decisions,” COS said. 

 

With every purchase of a Muru Group product, an allocation of profits goes to directly support First Nations community programs in the areas of education, employment, and health and well-being and creating tangible and intangible benefits.

 

Since 2014, Muru has contributed more than $600,000 to these programs.

 

Other First Nations businesses supported by COS include Yaru Water, Nigiilay Gift Boxes and Earth Blends coffee.
