Safety issue over button battery.

 

Officeworks has recalled a digital desk clock due to its button battery not being properly secured.

 

The clock, which retailed for $24.95, was available for sale at Officeworks stores nationally from 3 October , 2022 until September 29 this year, when it was pulled from shelves. 

 

The product can be identified by the OTWOODCLK code on the rear product label. 

 

The clock did not comply with the mandatory standards for products containing button or coin batteries, an alert issued by the ACCC's Product Safety Australia said.

 

"There is a risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries or death to young children if they gain access to the button batteries and swallow or insert them," the alert said.

 

"Once ingested, severe or fatal injuries can happen in 2 hours or less."

 

Customers who had bought the clock are being urged to stop using the product immediately.
