Officeworks signs off purchase of Box of Books

Retailer locks in “complementary business”.

Officeworks has completed its acquisition of Box of Books, a leading digital education company, as part of its strategy to accelerate business-to-business growth and expand its education offer.

Officeworks Managing Director Sarah Hunter said:  “The existing alliance between Box of Books and Officeworks has highlighted the complementary nature of the two businesses.

“Over recent years we have seen how the classroom has evolved, with technology helping to make learning more accessible and personalised. Box of Books is well positioned to expand as schools around Australia continue to digitise.

“What is pleasing about this acquisition is that it enhances the role Officeworks can continue to play in reducing the digital divide in education, helping even more Australian students access quality resources to improve educational outcomes,” she said.

Established 30 years ago in Richmond, Victoria, Box of Books provides a digital education platform that “enhances student engagement with physical and digital textbook content”.

The company delivers e-books and digital resources, provisions publisher interactive accounts and  ships physical textbooks and stationery.

It is currently used in more than 200 schools across Australia.
