US president signs executive order to bring back plastics.

 

The big news out of Washington this week is that President Donald Trump has signed an executive order banning paper straws. 

 

“We’re going back to plastic straws,” Trump said in an Oval Office video.

 

"These things don't work, I've had them many times, and on occasion, they break, they explode. If something's hot, they don't last very long, like a matter of minutes, sometimes a matter of seconds. It's a ridiculous situation," Trump said.

 

“They (paper straws) are no good, they melt when they’re hot. I don’t think it will affect sharks as they munch their way through the ocean,” he added.

 

The order rolls back a push by the Biden administration to phase out single-use plastic across the federal government.
