BIC sponsors pen recycling program
Champion idea for used pens and markers.
BIC Australia has partnered with global recycling group TerraCycle to facilitate the recycling of pens and markers.
TerraCycle offers free recycling programs funded by brands, manufacturers, and retailers around the world to help schools, organisations and individuals collect and recycle hard-to-recycle waste.
The BIC ‘Community Champion’ programme is free and involves the collection of used writing instruments. When the collection reaches at least 2kg, participants download a shipping label from a TerraCycle.
The box is shipped to Terracycle after being dropped off at a post office.
TerraCycle’s Zero Waste Box platform allows people to recycle almost any type of waste, from coffee capsules to complex laboratory waste. Companies can select the waste stream it wants to recycle via a preferred box size available for purchase through Australia Post, King Bins or Officeworks
TerraCycle was founded in 2001 by Tom Szaky, then a student at Princeton University, and has grown into the global leader in collecting and repurposing hard-to-recycle waste, operating in more than 20 countries.
